Funky font frets a fellow.

Some of my screen fonts have changed.

Why have some of the fonts of my screens gone to something that looks like an old 8-bit Atari game? The example field on AskMe would be my login name-it's illegible now. Don't even know if this makes sense, but there are many areas of a web page that maybe used to be written in a rounded font (maybe?) and now they're little squares. Why did this happen and more importantly, how can I fix it?

*points and laughs*

Are fonts only buggered in your browser, or everywhere, and which browser are you using?

Is this happening to all screen fonts, or just in your web browser?

My guess would be the font files are missing/damaged/renamed and something else is being called in their place.

The text on MeFi is specified as Verdana, but if the browser can't find that, it will substitute the best sans-serif font it can find. In that case, try replacing the Verdana font (verdana.ttf) file and see if it helps.

Something similar happened to me last week, and the Mefites helped me out in that thread. It may or may not be useful to you. :)

Response by poster: This happens in IE and not to all text, just specifics. For example on the MeFi home page, the only spots corrupted are "deepfriedtwinkies / logout". Everything else is fine and it doesn't happen in Firefox, so yeah, maybe it's an IE problem.
