Trying to locate a mid to late 1980s PBS science miniseries on the brain

I am looking for a science program broadcast between 1985 and 1990 on PBS on the brain. It had a very distinctive opening sequence with mysterious-sounding 80s synthesizer music.

I am quite certain it was on PBS, and the opening credits had a very distinctive animated sequence of various electric synapses/impulses lighting up within the brain, with 80s style synthesized music. It was a Nova-like program with a Peter Thomas-like narrarator. There were interviews with doctors and scientists.

I’ve searched through Nova’s lists of episodes and trawled through YouTube endlessly, but no luck.

I totally remember it, though I would have placed it a little earlier, and I would swear it was just called "The Brain" and that it was a miniseries. But a quick search isn't turning it up (just the more recent one of the same name).

It also might not have been on PBS, but on one of the major networks.

Best answer: Looks like there was an 8-part miniseries called The Brain in 1984. NSF, CPB and Annenberg were all involved. This looks like it was based on the original series.
