A great source for contests, grants, conferences, places to publish, workshops, etc is the magazine Poets & Writers.

If you are looking for a grant to make time to write, you might consider going for an MFA, if you are able to - you'll get time, some mentoring, a 'community of peers', and some teaching experience. Many programs are funded, in that they will pay you to teach. Not the same as a grant, but it's one way to make time to write.

There are also plenty of places like this that you can apply to that will feed you and give you space while you write. Poets & Writers is a great place for finding other retreats.

while not an exact answer to your question, here are some blogs that might help you on your search for grants, contests, etc.:

--the brand- new imprimatur seems great!

Oh, also writersmarket.com has a list of resources in their encyclopedia, under "Grants, directories of". You have to pay to have access to it, but it isn't much and it's tax-deductible if you're a professional writer (or at least that's what the nice man at H&R Block told me).
