Cell phone auto profile switching?

I have been tethered to my SonyEricsson phones ever since I found the automatic profile switching in the Calendar preferences. Now, I sync my phone with my Powerbook, and my phone is always on silent when it needs to be. BUT... I'm interested in possibly moving to a new phone brand, something with a very thin model. I like the Motorola iTunes phone that just came out, but as far as I know, Moto doesn't have anything like the feature I'm talking about. This isn't a feature that's widely touted for SonyEricsson phones, so I suspect there might be a couple other manufacturers out there that have this feature but it's not well-known. I may just have to wait for Apple to come out with a phone. I'm sure it will happen, especially if they enter the MVNO arena.

There are a number of third-party software tools which do exactly this; I've used SmartProfiles which should work on any Series 60 phone.

Don't get the iTunes phone. It's dreadful.

Get a Symbian phone from Nokia. I have the 6882, but that doesn't fit the slim profile requirement.

imate smartphones are great phones and do auto profile switching. I have an i-mate SP3i.

How about the K750i/W8[01]0i? Great phones, not too big. $400USD or so unlocked, and getting closer to $300.

I'd second itchy's comment. Smartphones switch to 'meeting' profile when your calendar says your in a meeting and back to normal when it's finished. The phone syncs with a PC easier than the SonyEriccsons I've ever tried too.

Smartphones aren't razor thin, but are pretty small as they tend to be candy-bar style.

I have an iTunes phone (ROKR E1) and I actually love it. You just have to remember that it's not an iPod, and is only for basic music listening.

I also tether to my phone and use it as a dial-up service.

Note that there are now two iTunes phones; the ROKR E1 and the SLVR L7.

@sdevans: I am a Mac user and I have had smooth sailing with synching. By Smartphones, I assume people mean Windows Mobile phones? Mac zealot that I am, I'm not interested in using much of anything Microsoft made.

What are people's experience with Symbian phones? Which ones are the best?
