Good meditation or tai chi classes in New York?
I'll probably go to one or the other a few times a week. I want to learn something (improve as a person, gain infinite wisdom, etc.) but I'd also prefer to go to an environment where I'd meet new people. After all, I do this stuff at home, so the main reason to pay for it would be to meet interesting people.
For tai chi--I've gone to William Chen and it seemed like it would be frustrating and expensive, as we spent an hour on perfecting about thirty seconds of gestures. It was helpful and illuminating, but it seemed like I wanted to learn the whole sequence, it'd end up costing a few thousand dollars.
For meditation--I've gone to the Shambala center and there were a ton of people there. But I don't know if this works in my favor or not.

I went to Shambala for a long time, then moved farther away. They were pretty good and I took refuge vows. The people there were easy-going but into it.
