The comments area is there for a reason, iTunes.

iTunesFilter: When I type in the search bar, how can I get iTunes to search songs' comments areas as well as the other areas?

Yes, I have selected "All" from the drop-down menu.

I'm running iTunes 4.7.0.42, and I don't want to upgrade. But I shouldn't need a more recent version for this -- I was able to search the comments field in previous versions.

I have tried Googling, but things like "itunes search comments" do not lend themselves well to Google research. Thank you all!

Response by poster: Sorry, I guess I was unclear. It's not that I want to view comments in the window -- I don't. When I type $foo in the search bar, I want songs with $foo in their comments to turn up.

Best answer: Yea, iTunes won't filter the search by comment unless that column is showing in the window. Sucks, I know. I tried to tag music through the comments, but that process was too unwieldy, so I gave up.

Response by poster: I could've sworn I wasn't viewing the comments field when it worked before, but whatever. That's not very cool of iTunes. Thank you!

It's easy enough to just put the comments column at the right and set your window so you can't see it.

Response by poster: Yeah, and that's what I've done. It just gives me a horizontal scrollbar that does nothing but take up space, but I can live with that. Thanks.
