A9 browser bar weirdness. A thin horizontal white line appeared one day beneath the A9 toolbar, and now it's useless. Any menu I click on will not drop down. What's going on? I'm using firefox 1.5.

Create a new profiel by starting Firefox with the -p switch:
Firefox -p

Use that profile. Install A9 to that profile. Install your other extensions, etc.

(Other possibilities, for the technically inclined: delete localstore.rdf from your current profile directory, and hope for the best.)

I tried both suggestions and saw no change.

I have had similar issues here and there with other extensions: Usually it's a corrupt extension file. Try removing the A9 toolbar, then nuking your extensions folder to make sure it's really gone. Check the folders (profiledir/extensions folder, look in subfolders for anything that identified this folder as specifically the A9 plugin - usually open install.rdf in a text browser and look for extension name). If you see the subfolder, delete it.

Restart FF and see if anything weird happens. If not, try reinstalling A9. Check for weirdness.

If that doesn't work, check prefs.js and see if there are any a9-specific configuration lines in it. If so, uninstall A9, close FF, remove the A9 lines in prefs.js, then restart FF and see what you get.

Worst case scenario: Save your bookmarks.html file to a different folder, remove everything FF-related and do a clean install from scratch to a clean profile. Then bring your bookmarks file back in. Not the most elegant solution as you'll lose things like prefs and cookies, but sometimes it's the only way to clear out the cruft in your profile.
