Why do installing apps from Google's Play Store crash my phone apps?

I have a problem with my phone. Whenever I install or update an app on my phone from the Google Play Store, whatever app I'm currently running on my phone (including the Google Play Store if I don't switch out of it during the install) crashes and I get sent to my home screen. This did not happen with my previous Android phones. I am currently on a Samsung Galaxy S8 using AT&T and running the latest updates and such. I would like to fix this, but don't know what the problem is. Any ideas?

Yeah that doesn't sound right especially for such a new phone - I'm assuming it wasn't like this when you got it, or you would have taken it back to where you bought it?

If it's a recent problem, my first guess would be a memory issue. You can try going into Settings, look for 'Device Maintenance" (that's what it's called on my S6) and from there you can run scans that will free up memory, shutdown apps running in the background, and scan for viruses. There's a bunch of similar suggestions here you can try as well.
