Name that Book: End of Television Ads & Temple of the Green Goddess

One of my patrons came into the library looking for a book he read back in the sixties or seventies and the main thing the gentleman could remember was that the protagonist dreams about end of television advertising and he enters the Temple of the Green Goddess in his dream.

Does this ring any bells?

Response by poster: Thanks WCityMike - we have already been down that road.

The best answer one of my staff could come up with was 'The Space Merchants' by Frederik Pohl and C.M. Cornbluth...

I will say, I haven't read it in a decade because my copy got lost in a breakup, but my first thought when I read this description was "was this in Space Merchants?" It definitely feels right for something about Courtenay's dealings with the conservationists.

It was my first thought, too, but it's been so long since I read the book, and googling the title + goddess didn't really turn up anything.
