Paging Pages Persons, IOS 11 edition

After iPad upgrade to IOS 11, documents in the Pages app won't open.
My wife upgraded her iPad Air to IOS 11. Post upgrade, documents in the Pages app would not open when tapped, or double-tapped, or threatened verbally. Eventually, most have opened at least once, and will open again reliably from the list of Recent Documents. Does anyone have an explanation, or advice on how to open the last few documents that have not yet opened?
