Just for fun, help diagnose my weird workmate.

My office if a very quiet environment. But one guys sticks out. The general theme is noise - unnecessary noise.

* Everyone else types on their keyboards normally. This guy hammers at it. Especially when "tying up" a bit of work before going for a break: then he'll smash the enter key several times, seemingly in a flourish of great self-satisfaction.
* The above is a theme in itself: whenever he approaches/leaves his desk, it's "announced" in some way, like a fanfare for an old king. He'll shout "Morning Gentlemen!" when he arrives each day. (No one in my office says good morning: we like it that way).
* Extremely loud drinking: he'll slurp and gurgle at water and coffee - and belch loudly afterwards. (This is all while rubbing his own head for some reason).
* Dramatic sneezing.
* Random exclamations: he'll suddenly guffaw into laughter - or shout out what sounds like "fuckus!" (he's Belgian).

At first I thought he was just very un-self-aware - or perhaps a bit deaf. But recently he's added the following to his list of oddities.

* Walking through the office making odd popping noises with his mouth.
* Banging his hands, or his mouse, against the desk.

Note: This isn't a serious issue. At worst it's irritating, at best a bit funny - so I'm more interested by the behavior and its causes than a way to stop it.

Full disclaimer: I'm a highly strung, irritable person, who doesn't like noise. So some (but certainly not all) the issue is probably with me :)

This post was deleted for the following reason: Hey, sorry, but asking for armchair diagnoses of an unwilling third party isn't a good question for Ask Metafilter -- taz
