suggestions for creating Mix CDs with crossfades on Mac [2017 version]

I'm looking for new CD burning software that will allow me to drag and drop tracks from iTunes into it and then adjust track edits and crossfades.

[Forms of this question have been asked before but all were outdated.]

I've used Roxio Toast for years to create mix CDs by dragging and dropping in playlists from iTunes and then adjusting the crossfades.

Recently, when I burn these CDs to a disc they play great until around track 43 and then the tracks are silent and the disc player sounds like it's searching or having trouble tracking. This happens in my car CD player as well. I upgraded to version 16 and it's still an issue. I'm not getting much help from Roxio.

So any help with software or even with Toast?

thanks in advance,

I would recommend djay. Create your playlist in iTunes and then set the crossfading. Click record and play and it will record the output of your playing of your playlist. I used this app when I was a DJ at local community radio station. Simple and intuitive.

I think the free trial version will allow this. I know I bought my copy but not at the $49 price there now. I assume it was on sale or part of a bundle.

humblolt32 is right. Audacity is free. You can set it to record your output from whatever you use (iTunes). Not as pretty, but cheaper and effective. djay, not humbolt32, who I am sure is very good looking and not cheap.

Wait, how do you know it's the software and not the CD burner itself on its way out? You've used the software for years you say, but software doesn't have any moving parts. A CD drive does. Don't suppose you know anyone with an external USB CD burner you could borrow to test? (they're very cheap on ebay as well)
