Question: Where can I find a good sage-scented cologne?

Anyone know of a good sage cologne?

Yankee Candle's Sage and Citrus products smell amazing to me, and I'm fixated on the idea of finding a cologne to match the scent. A trip to the mall was useless, and while a google search turned up loads of sites selling various colognes with sage as part of the scent, there is of course no way of knowing how much like the Yankee Candle products they smell like, so I'm hoping someone out there has already trod down this path. Barring that, how big a production is it to make your own cologne?

BaseNotes is the motherlode for these kind of questions: the forum there is really knowledgeable and helpful.

I think Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab's 'Bewitched' is a good sage-y scent - their tea notes always resolve kind of citrus-y for me. You can buy sample sizes called "imp's ears" directly from the lab, but be prepared to wait. All orders are hand-blended when received, so turnaround can be 30-45 days.

Another option is the BPAL forum, where you could ask if a forum member has some to sell or swap, or the Alchemylab LJ, which was formed for discussion but is pretty much a sales and swapping site these days. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Garden Botanika has a "create your own fragrance from single notes" service. The seem to have some retail outlets so you could sniff in person.

Googling "create your own scent" finds more of same. Good luck!

I've used Weleda sage or citrus deodorant exclusively for years. It works, smells good, has identifiable ingredients, and doesn't do stuff to your clothes. I don't know if it smells anything like the Yankee Candle products, but they have fairly true sage- and citrus-oil scents. If there's a Whole Foods or a food co-op near you they'll have a tester.
It isn't an antipersperant, so if you're one of those people who feels disgusting without it, you won't like it one bit. It's more subtle than a cologne (that is, it isn't as smelly, and I think this is a good thing), except for the first twenty minutes after application.

Dang, I didn't realize that 'sage & citrus' were one scent. I didn't do my homework... uh, maybe you could mix the two Weleda deodorants.

Why not try an essential oil like this? (That's just the first link that came up, not an endorsement. I was looking to see if Demeter, which does marvelous one-scent sprays, has a sage version but they don't seem to.)
