Country songs to learn for one newly arrived in town?

I've moved for a stay in a new town and would like to learn some songs to sing with my mandola that have some relevance to this; I also want to expand the rather slim repertoire of country and western songs that I know. What songs should I look at?
I like Hank Williams Sr. and have been planning to listen to more George Jones and Merle Haggard. Open to further suggestions too.
(I'm looking for very open responses, so I purposely omit to mention the town by name. Can in follow-up.)

Big fan of Marty Robbins.
He has the classic El Paso and Big Iron among many many other songs.
He has scores more great songs.

I think Tennessee Flat Top Box might be fun to learn on a mandolin.
