Accountability partners online?

I am clinically depressed and need to complete several goals that are self-motivated, when that is one thing I lack. Can you recommend a site or service that would match me with an accountability partner?

I have a lot of trouble doing stuff, including being awake, for my own sake, but I am still good at doing things that other people expect me to do. If someone wanted me to file a TPS report on my progress I think I would get more done.

I am willing to pay a fee, or to exchange this service with someone else. As I say, I am good at doing things that other people need to get done, but right now I am not good at getting things done for myself.

Are you going to therapy? Often you will discuss your goals with your therapist. They will then check in the next week and ask, anon, did you meet most of your goals?

They can also discuss strategies for accomplishing things with depression and or working on feeling less depressed.

I use facebook for this. I announce to a small group of trusted friends that I'm going to do a thing before I check FB again. Making the announcement gives me the push I need to get started.

I only make these announcements for small and reasonable chunks of tasks. Never "clean the whole house." More like unload the dishwasher, start a load of laundry, find a job to apply for, etc. I don't set myself up to fail and I account for how crappy I'm feeling that day.

Good luck!

I actually think there is a subreddit for this; I just don't know what it's called.

I use the app Habitica. They have short-term and long-term accountability forums and you can also form your own small group - so you essentially have an accountability partner.

I also use Facebook for this. I post a to-do list to a small group of close friends and tell them they can message me at any time to ask me what I've completed. I update the post periodically with the things I've done. It really works, because I get positive feedback and encouragement from multiple people who mean something to me.
