Firefox 1.5 and Quicktime 7... Why don't they agree?

I've recently updated from Firefox 1.1 (or so) to Firefox 1.5, and all of a sudden Quicktime doesn't like me any more. Where it used to be the case that videos would play fine (and on my dual monitor setup, play in full screen on the other monitor, which was kind of cool), and I could view the High Definition trailers and such on apple.com, all of a sudden none of that works any more. I get the sound from videos, but none of the video.

As near as I can tell (having even reinstalled it once), Quicktime is fine; if I go to about:plugins it registers Quicktime as being Jim Dandy.

Any idea what's up?

Mac or PC? FWIW I've had some problems with quicktime and firefox on os x 10.4.

I had these problems, and had to go into the quicktime settings.

I also get the problems when I update my Quicktime - or when I want to update my itunes and I have to update my quicktime in the process. AGAIN!

Pain in the butt. But a small price to pay to avoid using IE or another browser.

And yeah, I'd rather avoid IE... but I'm just mystified by this. It was fine, I update FF, and boom. She no longer be workin'.

I did a bit of a search around, and the only conflict I could find that's reported often was something about quicktime and flash... which isn't the issue.

I've got the same problem on XP. I've caved in and use IE to watch trailers etc.

I'm using Firefox 1.5 on Windows XP Home SP2 with QuickTime Alternative 1.63, and it seems to be working just fine.

This is an upgrade installation from FF 1.0.7; I had current versions of Adblock Plus, Adblock Filterset.G Updater, User Agent Switcher, IE View, FlashGot and BugMeNot extensions installed before I upgraded, and everything Just Worked (tm).

I had the same problem (on OS X), and found that upgrading to the latest version of the Adblock extension fixed it - worth a try if you have it installed.

There seems to be some serious compatiability problems with the latest version of QT, it hosed my Picasa this weekend and was probably the cause of my FF crashes over christmas. Dropping down to 6.42 (or whatever the previous latest version was, I've banned QT from my system) seems to fix most of these problems.

Well, I thought I had the newest adblock, but I updated and she's running fine now. I might check out QT alternative anyhow, but who knows.
