San Francisco Area Clothing Stores For The Lesbian Tech Bro

What clothing stores (must have a brick-and-mortar presence, not just online-only) in the SF Bay Area actively cater to or have a good selection of clothing aimed at androgynous or masculine-of-center women?

I—mid-30s, tomboy femme/stemme lesbian, software startup engineering manager based in San Francisco—am interested in refreshing my wardrobe with clothes suitable for people of my nature. I would especially like to escape the mass-market mall stores and support more independent shops, extra bonus points for those featuring local designers and products. I want to avoid looking like a dowdy office lady or a mid-Peninsula housewife. My style tends more towards the preppy than the athletic or casually plaid-shirted.

Extra challenges: I am tall enough to shop in the men's department but stacked like a 1950s pin-up model, and my office has lousy climate control so breathable, layerable fabrics are a must.

Is a road trip to Portland out of the question? This sounds exactly like Wildfang.

An old ask.metafilter question on the same subject.

Kipper Clothiers does custom menswear for women. It is expensive if you're going for full suits but they carry other stuff, and the experience is wonderful.

I like Everlane. They're mostly online but have a store in mission

I like Theory too.

Unionmade would have more of the athletic / workwear type, but their women's shop Mill Mercantile should carry more of that casual preppy style you're looking for. FWIW, queer women were on the staff at both stores when I was last there.

I also enjoyed browsing Sui Generis Consignment who have mens and womens' stores. Fashion forward, recent designer pieces that could fit a professional androgynous wardrobe.
