In emotional crisis--can I see someone in person near Oakland, CA today?

I'm currently experiencing an intense emotional crisis; I'm not in physical danger. I can pay--is there any way I can definitely get at least an hour with a licensed mental health professional today near Oakland, CA?

I'm not sure if this is feasible, and I'm not sure how to make this happen. Can one just walk into an ER and get psychological support? No, right? I'm not sure I have the emotional resources to leave messages with a bunch of therapists as a new client and hope one of them checks their messages on a weekend and is willing to meet.

Does your employer have an Employee Assistance Program (EAP)? Those usually have a hotline number you can call and they can walk you through getting an appointment, often same-day.

Many psychiatrists do not accept insurance, so if you can afford it, you could easily find one on ZocDoc and schedule an appointment.
