Simple way of finding out when an author publishes a new book?

There are a number of comparatively low-profile-but-interesting-to-me authors that I would love to be able to get some kind of alert (pref. by email) about when they've published a new book. I follow some of them on Twitter and Facebook, but I regularly miss posts due to FB's filtering and general overload, so would love to be able to do this outside of social media. So, MeFites, what tools, if any, do you use? Has the internet found a solution to this problem that I've missed?

I have heard about Goodreads' alerts feature, but have also heard it is semi-broken and spammy.

Best answer: Bookbub works for me. At least well enough that I haven't noticed it isn't working.

You can ask if they have mailing lists.

Best answer: If they have an author page on Amazon, you can click "Follow" and get emailed about their new releases.

Goodreads is great for this, they'll send you an email.

For the few authors I follow like this, I visited their professional websites and signed up for their emails. They are always eager to tell engaged readers when the next book is coming.

I like author alerts but they often list republished titles along with new releases which isn't their fault but still disappointing.

I would prefer all my favorite authors to move from twitter to actual blogs but I can't have everything in life.
