Question: Yahoo! Search engine optimization

I've a site that ranks very well on Google, but is nowhere to be found in Yahoo! It seems to be doing a lot of correct things to get a strong Google listing, but with Yahoo - what can I do?

Can you elaborate on what the correct things are?
Have you applied all the obvious SEO techniques (I found this site to be a pretty good primer for entering into SEO).

I assume your site is the one linked from your mefi profile? At least that's one affiliate link.

Correct things, as in getting incoming links, listing in directories, keyword-usage, keyword in domain, etc.

Anyway it's not the website on my mefi profile.

You say you have incoming links, listings, keywords - how long ago was it submitted? That should be good enough. Is the site "content rich" or are you soley depending on methods such as page title, backlinks, keywords etc.

I'm just finished doing SEO reports for over 40 of our clients (fun fun!) and I'm not bad at this seo malarky if i do say so myself.

If you can send a link to the site I could take a look for you. If you don't want to post it email me.

It would be interesting to check out for all involved here - I don't think it's wrong to post the URL unless you're uncomfortable for personal reasons or similar.

Hi all, thanks for the feedback. My site is a photo travelogue of a visit I made to Sabah, Malaysia. The keywords highlighted scores a top 5 in Google, but on my last check in Yahoo, it's #37 in page 4. Just interested in knowing what are the requirements that Yahoo looks at when listing results.

It's now at number 10 on Yahoo. I'd say Yahoo was maybe just a bit slower in ranking you properly. I'd say there's very little you ae doing wrong. Personally I'd say the top menu links are a bit too small and would work just as well as text links, that's it

Good site, good content and will do well in the search engines... nice one!
