Can anyone identify this pin badge?

My father died unexpectedly last year, and I now have his collection of memorabilia from his travels around the U.S. and Europe. Among them is this pin badge, which came in a presentation box. Can anyone tell me where it came from and what it represents? Thank you.

Are there any stamps or imprints on the reverse of the pin?

Response by poster: Unfortunately not. There is a handwritten 4 on the cardboard it's stuck through, though.

If you take a straight on picture of just the image on the box and run it through google image search, does it come up with any results? It's twigging my brain as possibly being a famous painting I've seen, but since I'm not an art person generally, I can't name the artist or anything like that.

Best answer: It looks a lot like the Weisman Art Museum at the University of Minnesota.

It's a Frank Gehry building and when it was built there were a lot of giveaway items like this. This item reminds me of the kind of gift the staff gave me when I worked on a project for them many years ago.

If it's not the Weisman maybe another Gehry building?

Best answer: Yes. It's all coming back to me now.

That silver sticker was Weisman Art Center's logo in the 1990s. They have since changed the logo. I can't find a picture of any of their old materials. If I dug through my basement I probably have something with that old logo on it.

Response by poster: Thank you so much, littlewater! I do remember Dad visiting Minnesota for a conference, and the museum is just the sort of place he would have visited.

Hah! A very good friend is running Visitor Services, Security, and Building Operations for the WAM these days. I bet he would love to see that pin; I am going to send him a link to this thread.

Goodness knows I would be delighted to add it to my own ID lanyard, which is full of souvenir pins -- please don't let that beautiful item languish unloved in a drawer! :7)
