Help Me Identify This Song

This song was originally in Spanish. We only have this melody, no lyrics. Any idea what it is? We tried Soundhound and Shazam, no luck.

Are there any other clues for us?
Do you understand Spanish but just can't remember the lyrics?
Or do you just remember it sounded like Spanish?

Do you remember whether it sounded like a long story was being told, or just a catchy tune?
Was it a modern pop song?

Did you hear it in a Spanish-speaking country?
Did you hear it live, was it sung to you as a kid?
If it was on the radio, what kind of station--public radio, commercial radio in New York or ?
On TV?

Response by poster: My husband heard this song played by neighbors over and over again in New York City in the 60's or 70's. Sounded like a Latin "standard," but he has no idea from what country. There are lyrics, but he doesn't speak Spanish so can't say anything about them.

What genre was this? Are both parts that you sang supposed to be vocal parts? How confident are you that the language was Spanish?

female or male singer?

Response by poster: More info:

It was a male singer. Mid to late 80s. Romantic. One of the words (only one I remember) is "silencio" (at the end of a sentence/musical phrase. It is probably not the title). Family from whose house song emanated was Puerto Rican.

Also, there aren't really two parts. Just the two of us singing because it was fun to do so.

Well, it is possible after all these years you may be misremembering details of the melody, so I'm going to suggest maybe the title is "Silencio" by El Puma, which has some elements in common with your rendition.

Sorry, I just realised you said it was at the end of the phrase.
