what would be a good wordpress theme for serious writers?

Can you recommend a good wordpress theme (or other tool) to build a personal blog that contains really long form writing: book chapters, or long academic articles? I like Medium's style but it is not all about the look. Table of content is a must.

I also want to know if there is any good way to get reader's feedback by letting them annotate and commenting on particular lines...
or is there any tool that can help people split long stuff into different parts and then automatically link them together?

Plugins will help with those features:
Inline Comments plugin (seems to be older but I'm having trouble finding an more recent one)
Table of Contents Plus

Check out the Origami theme by Site Origin. I doesn't do everything you want, but it's minimal and content-focused. Plug-ins may fill in the gaps.
