A one-panel comic of the "research process" from a year or so ago...

...was making the rounds on academic-ish social media. I think it was set up as a cutaway view of a house. The attic was messy heaps of stuff showing initial studies, messy data, etc. At the bottom (the basement) was some depiction of the tidy result of all this mess - a research paper.

The intent was to show the disorder and invisible mess behind-the-scenes that goes into research and how little of it appears up in published academic output.

I'm fairly certain it was not xkcd (I searched their site) but the look was similar. It might have been tweeted by Sh*t Academics Say or Research Wahlberg but that hasn't helped me track in down. Does anyone remember this?

Thanks!

Best answer: Sounds like PHD, or "Piled Higher and Deeper". Look around in there.

Here's one of my favorites, showing the science news cycle. What you don't know about "A" can kill you!!!

Best answer: Was it in color or black and white?
