Dear mefites, where in London can I get a nice, intense back massage? Also, how much do you tip? Please only recommend places where workers are treated fairly. Thanks!

Best answer: Can recommend http://www.fixlondon.co.uk for highly trained sports massage. Amazing.
I don't tip, have never thought to actually.

Sorry, I don't have an answer for you, but keen to get other recommendations.

I also personally wouldn't tip. It's not really a done thing here in London. Christmas tip, yes, but not in the course of ordinary business activities.

Excepting Christmas time, I also do not generally tip: professional hairdressers, cleaners, nail salons, bartenders, waxers.

I had a great sports massage here . I went to the location near Highbury and Islington.

The Neals Yard Therapy rooms is a good choice. I once had an amazing reflexologist there.

No need to tip. It is not taken as an offense. I would often leave £5 or £10 extra for my reflexologist and it was always greatly appreciated, however.

I am an osteopath and sports massage therapist, and I'm pretty good! But more than that, if you tell me which bit of London you are interested in, I can recommend some people I know. I am in Victoria and London Bridge.

Oh, and as for tips, it varies a lot by place. When I worked inside a beauty parlour, because people were used to tipping everyone, they sometimes did to me as well. It felt nice, and was appreciated, but felt pretty awkward as well. Other places may be different!

I miss my London osteopath SO MUCH now that i've moved back to the States, that if I were wealthy I would totally fly him over! Instead I just settle for seeing him on rare visits back. He's great with everything from small niggles to big/chronic issues. You don't tip because he's his own business (he rents time/space at a clinic). Duncan McGetchie, London Natural Health,
Theobald's Rd, 07891244645 or enquiries@acubody.net.

Response by poster: I went to Fix London and got an intense massage from Robert Emmanuel, but it sounds like there are lots of great options here.

Thank you everyone!
