My friend's friend is crushed - Apple gurus please help!

My friend copied another friends video to the icloud from an ipad. The video is of her mother's funeral. Now there is an 8 month gap lost in the video collection. And of course the funeral video is in that time frame.

I have been searching for hours and cannot find anything except got to settings, videos and hit show all videos- except there is no such switch on her current ipad- new IOS I am assuming.

Any ideas? Can anything be done besides going to a professional and paying for recovery?

Have you tried logging into their iCloud account from a computer?

Had a similar scare recently - does your friend use iCloud Photo Library? When the video was copied to iCloud, was there enough space in your friend's iCloud account for it to be uploaded? If your friend has iCloud Photo Library enabled and there isn't enough storage, that might be the problem. This Apple support article covers a lot of the fixes, but basically what I ended up doing was buying more storage to get back what I needed from the limbo it was apparently stuck in, downloading it onto the computer I wanted it on once it appeared in iCloud, then cancelling the purchased storage upgrade (they give you a number of days to do so).

Hope that helps! If not, couldn't hurt to call Apple Care (1-800-APL-CARE), even if your friend hasn't purchased it - they may be sympathetic to the situation and help y'all with recovery.

If your friend has any other devices of any sort that share iCloud photos, put those devices into Airplane mode, then see if the video exists. If so, don't turn off airplane mode under any circumstances until it's been copied and set up to share (via email, etc).
