Oracle 10g Administrator self-study: this book or this one?

I recommend any book by Thomas Kyte
Books that follows the OCP track are always dull, lengthy, learn-by-rote. In contrast Tom's books are actually enjoyable to read.

I'd recommend Oracle's excellent Oracle by Example series, as well as Oracle's 2-Day DBA guide. Both require a free membership to Oracle's Technology Network(OTN).

To second what Lanark said, you can't go wrong with Thomas Kyte.

Response by poster: To sign up for OTN membership, one is *required* to enter a company name, work phone number, and business address. That makes me very uncomfortable. Are they going to bother me at work?

Response by poster: Has Thomas Kyte written any actual books that are more...introductory? It looks like his stuff is relatively advanced.
