How can I find out how gays are treated overseas?

Are there organizations that report on the human rights of gays and lesbians around the world?

I'm looking for reports along the lines of those produced annually by Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, the US Dept of State, but specifically regarding gays and lesbians.

Best answer: HRW has a special page on LGBT rights here but maybe you already found that. And there's something called the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission.

The NAFSA: Association of International Educators has a special interest group for those concerned about GLBT issues. The links in their student resources may be helpful.

I second Human Rights Watch. Whenever you want a resource like this, they're one of the best places to start looking and their staff are amazingly knowledgeable and helpful if you send them an email with specific questions.

there's the ILGA too, and Amnesty Int'l covers it as well, as an adjunct.

Human Rights Campaign. "The Human Rights Campaign is the largest national gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender political organization with members throughout the country."

Response by poster: Now I'll just respond to my own question, in case there's someone else who is interested in the topic. I just found this report by the World Policy Institute - it's an excellent 2003 report on LGBT human rights in the Americas.
