I wanted to "Sparkle, Neely, Sparkle!" not take a nap!

So this isn't a panicked "what am I going to do. I'm POISONED" kind of thing. I know it's not that serious! I was just an idiot. I didn't have my contacts in yet, thought I took my 20mg of adderall so I could get started on my homework for today. Instead, of course I took my 1mg of Xanax. Not too worried about it but I take Xanax to put me to sleep. I have a ton of homework I'm supposed to get done today. I took some activated charcoal thinking that would help. Definitely feel the Xanax kicking in now, though. Can I take an adderall in an hour? I've got work to do! I can't be chilled out right now.

Call your pharmacist. They should have a live person for you to talk to who knows a lot about these exact issues and interactions.

Toxicologist chiming in. No, you should not take these two drugs at the literal same time. As anastasiav mentions, you should be asking your pharmacist or prescribing physician this question (phone numbers should be right on the bottle), not the internet.

Response by poster: Ok yes will call. I'm not that stressed about it was just seeing if anyone had been in same situation before! Will drink coffee and power through the homework. I'm not knocked out or anything. Just frustrated at myself
Thanks

I have know at least two people over the years who took Adderall for ADD and also Xanax, as needed, for anxiety-related issues, so they were adding Xanax to their system after Adderall. It's definitely not a good long-term plan, but as I understand things, no benzo should be part of a long-term plan. However, both meds were prescribed by the same doctor. (Just to be clear, they didn't have the same doctor—2 different doctors prescribed this mix to 2 different people.)

Just for any future readers, there is no reason you can't take a benzo and Adderall at the same time. They are not like chemical opposites, or something, where they will cancel each other out. Many, many people are prescribed both, and it's certainly not dangerous (as long as you're not, say, mixing them with copious amounts of alcohol. And hell, actually alcohol + benzos + Adderall is probably safer than alcohol + benzos alone.)) A benzo along with Adderall can be really helpful for people like me who can have increased anxiety from the Adderall alone. If you are particularly sensitive to benzos, the speedy effects of the Adderall might be slightly muted, but the Adderall usually wins out.
