Help me find this 1970's (?) sci-fi trilogy

Some time, probably in the 1970's, my mother read a trilogy of science-fiction novels. They were written by a woman author, and were about a team of space explorers. One thing that stood out about them was that all of the crew received training that divided them into "specialists" or "generalists" in whatever their chosen field was. And that's all we know. She doesn't recall ever seeing anything else by the same author, and remembers that the titles were fairly standard spacey stuff.

Maybe Rocannon's World, Planet of Exile, and City of Illusions by Ursula K Le Guin? They were written in the 60s.
