Advice on buying a small vaccum

Hello All: I am looking for a light weight vacuum for home. I was thinking of stick vacuum like the link below. I have a small place, so I need a small vacuum that can fit in the closet. I have hard wood floors. I had a shark vacuum before that was an electric two in one and it worked great, but they no longer make it. Thanks! LINK.

You want the Bissell Power Edge Pet Hard Floor Corded Vacuum. Even if you don't have pets, get the pet one with the rubber. It's $45 and has 5,000 positive reviews on Amazon. It's amazingly good at vacuuming, has no brushes or wheels for hair to catch in so it's super low maintenance and it won't scuff your floors over time. You do have to occasionally replace the filter but not often and they're cheap.

This stick vacuum from Bissel, only sold at Walmart, has a more powerful motor than other versions + the exhaust from the motor is smartly placed so that it does not blow the debris on the floor around. That last part is actually a HUGE problem with most stick vacuums, they're usually designed very poorly.

I like ANKER products and I think they make a pricey rechargeable stick vacuum which is the only one I might trade my Walmart Bissel version for. The Walmart Bissel one has a notoriously short cord and it's easy to add an extension cord. That's it's one drawback. Seriously. That cheapie vacuum is excellent! Try it!!

I have the same Hoover to the one you linked. I also use it on hardwood floors, and it works ok, but I don't think I would be happy with it as my only vacuum. I like that I can empty the dust bin after every use.

I don't think it does a particularly good job, and it also lacks a hose, so you can't vacuum your couch cushions or curtains or whatever. It also doesn't get completely flat, so you can't get it very far under furniture or a bed. The shape of the vacuum head means it doesn't get into corners well.

I have long hair (and a short hair cat) and even though I never use the rollers they get full of hair every time I use it. My hair also tends to clog the wheels on the bottom.

If is your only vacuum, I would consider getting a small, powerful canister vacuum with a hose and upholstery, cup brush, and crevice attachments, if you can afford it.

I have this Black&Decker compact vacuum, and it's great. It's more expensive than a usual stick vacuum, but for me it was worth it because it's my only vacuum & perfect for my small place. It's compact, cordless, and comes with an attachment that converts it into a stick vacuum, along with a few other accessories.

I highly recommend a cordless vac. I got one on the recommendation of The Sweethome and love it. The lack of cord makes it so much easier to maneuver, and if your apartment is small, you won't need to use it longer than the battery lasts.

I have the Hoover 2-in-1 cordless deluxe, which is especially great because: 1. It has a detachable hand vac and 2. It has a little "headlamp" on the floor vac stuff which is really great for corners and under tables.

I have the same Hoover that lunasol has, recommended by The Sweethome. It is excellent. I vacuum almost every day now just because it's so easy without a cord. I will never go back to a corded vacuum ever again.

I just bought a Shark Lift Away. For $115, you can't beat it.

I have a Dyson V6 Animal cordless vacuum. It comes with lots of different attachments and is a dream to use. 10/10.

Seconding Dyson. A lot of people will say they're too expensive, or not high quality, etc. but I haven't had that experience at all and haven't heard that from actual owners. I've used Dyson cordless vacuums for years, and never had one break down. I've used them as my one and only vacuum to clean entire apartments from 400 sq ft to 1400 sq ft places. And I've given them to family members as gifts. I will always buy a Dyson cordless, nothing has the suction power and ease of use and ease of emptying and cleaning as these things. They mount for charging on the wall, easy to put up in a closet. To me the best part is the suction power, they just work, no weak suction or going over a spot multiple times. They're like a magic wand of cleaning power to help you win the war on stray particles. I love them.
