Question: Where can I find local self-improvement classes?

(Brooklyn, NY) Where can I find classes for simple things, like automotive repair? I remember there was a time when the local community college held classes like this. But I can't seem to find any in Brooklyn.

When I'm in upstate NY, the local community center has classes such as: motorcycle safety, basic automotive repair, basic plumbing, etc. I can't seem to find that here in Brooklyn. Any suggestions?

While I can't specifically address your Brooklyn situation, "Outreach" and/or "continuing education" are typically the keywords to search for, and don't just limit yourself to community colleges. Also "non-credit" or "not for credit" might be useful search terms. Happy hunting!

I'm in the same boat as you, I'm afraid; I never thought I would miss having taken shop in high school, but life is surprising-

The best that I have found are the "BOCES" programs in southern Westchester, Putnam, and Nassau counties. None in New York City proper, however -
