squirrel gone wild

I'm fostering-to-own this little rescue mutt-nugget. help me name him!
he's about one or so, 11 entire pounds of red squirrel/fox/floof. he's incredibly sweet and cuddly and not yappy at all, although his teeny baby whimper will break your heart. he has short little legs but walks speedily on a leash, with his foxytail straight up in the air. gorgeous orange & white fur. goofy underbite. wonky ears. he's a doll.
he arrived as morris, but nah. I was trying on theodore fox (teddyfox for short), but I've been hesitating -- not sure if it's the name itself, or the commitment of naming? (I lost my old love about 7 weeks ago.) now that I'm really starting to fall for the little guy, I'd welcome any more suggestions. thanks so much!

What a cutie pie, my god. I might need more photos to help me think of more names, just sayin'.

Wow, he looks SO MUCH like a fox in that first pic!
Here is a list of fictional fox character names.
Hhmmm....of these, how about Basil or Pablo?

I also thought he looked like a fox! Mr. Fox.
But my real suggestion is Snickers.

Weirdly, like gt2, I looked at him and thought "That dog looks like he's named Davey"
I don't know why. But Davey!

Your little mutt-nugget is so beautiful and I'm so happy you guys found each other. <3

Keep in mind that the dog won't really think of it as it's name but as the command to pay attention to you. That means that while you have one official "name" for him, you can (and should!) use as many of these as nick-names as you like (I'm going to start using "mutt-nugget" BTW).
And typically, they respond best to names that end in vowel sounds (though this is more trend than a rule).
He reminds me a lot of some incarnations of Tails from the Sonic the Hedgehog video games but that does't hit me as a good dog name.

My default answer to 'what should I name my dog?' has always been Filthy McNasty, so I feel I should continue to do so. That said, with eyes like those, perhaps something a little more heartwarming: Fuzzy McFuzzFace.
