Question: testing, testing, is this thing on?

I had ViaVoice 98, but with a new computer, I'm wondering what the latest, greatest voice recognition program is. It'll mainly be for dictation. What are you using?

So, "Dragon Naturally Speaking" then. Ok.

I saw a demo of Dragon the other day, and it was truly amazing how accurate it was. Voice recognition has come a long way.

Related questions: (1) how much has Dragon naturally speaking improved in the last few years? (I am a former user, considering going back). (2) How important is it to have a recent sound card?

I don't think sound card matters at ALL. As far as I know, ViaVoice and Dragon Naturally Speaking are the only two voice recognition programs worth bothering with, but I've been away from that scene for 3 or 4 years now. Dragon was the best at the time, but really I've never had any problems with either one, once they are trained.
