How can I test for cat allergens in my house?

After my last question on the subject of allergen removal I would like to have some way to follow up on the results of the cleaning.

Basically, other than asking someone to come in and expose themselves to significant discomfort and possible respiratory distress, is there any way to evaluate the success of the cleaning?

In my experience as an allergy-sufferer, no. Allergies aren't binary, unfortunately, and one person with a cat allergy might be fine post-cleaning, and another might have major problems.

I would love if there was an air sniffer, though, that could tell you the ppm of different allergens. Are we there yet, science?
