iOS Photos: can I download selected albums in full resolution?

I have a 200GB Photos library in iCloud, so in order to have access to my library on my iPad, I have to optimize space. I'd like to make a few of my albums always available in full resolution on my iPad. Is there a painless way to do this?

I don't want to have to tap on each photo in these albums and wait for it to download. That would take a few hours. Is there a way to download a whole album of full res photos at once?

Ideally, there would be a solution that automatically downloads "favorited" photos in full res in real time, but I guess that's too much obvious convenience to hope for.

You might be able to piece together a solution from this discussion. I have also had a relatively good experience uploading everything to Flickr.

Try going into the album, select all, drag to your desktop. That works for me for a few photos, but I don't know if it works for lots.

You'll know it's working if nothing happens because, at least for me, I don't get a progress indicator. I just wait and wait and eventually the large files are on my desktop.
