Recommendations for places to enjoy marijuana in Seattle

My wife and I are going to be visiting Seattle this summer and would like to enjoy some Marijuana (this would be her first time). We've already booked a hotel room which is no smoking so we can't smoke in the privacy of our own room. Can anyone recommend someplace to go to purchase and enjoy Marjuana? We're not party people. We're pretty low key and relaxed. We'd also be interested in edibles (my wife is particularly interested in this). Thanks.

Smoking pot in public places is still illegal and I have yet to find a non shady "private club" that allows smoking. Edibles are going to be your best bet although the feeling is diffferent and takes longer to kick in so this is where people get in trouble by eating too many thinking the first batch didn't work.

My advice - check into your hotel room, go to the shop, ask them for their advice (they are really friendly and don't mind giving advice, really!), go to a nice dinner and head back to your hotel room then pull up a movie and enjoy. I wouldn't recommend being in public if it's your first time, between the giggles and just overall feeling, it might lead to more trouble then it's worth. Also, don't forget driving while under the influence is still very much illegal.

If you're fine after the first night, then head out and enjoy the sites (I'll defer to more native users for the go to sites) but the first night, you're going to want to call it an early night and not have anything to do.

Previously.

Short version: it is illegal to smoke in public places. However, so long as you are reasonably discreet, you will not get a ticket. I suggest Bhy Kracke park, since it is less busy than Kerry Park.

Taking edibles the first time is a mistake, especially in a public area in a strange city. If she is unusually sensitive, or has some kind of bad reaction, it's going to be a Bad Time That Keeps Getting Worse. Conversely, if she consumes such a small quantity so as to preclude that possibility, it will most likely be interminably boring.

I say skip the edibles until she knows how she reacts to weed.

Even if she enjoys it, edibles can be a lot stronger than just smoking. Not recommended for newbies. I'm not sure what the Seattle market is like compared to California, but what about getting a disposable oil cartridge and battery so you can vape it instead? Shouldn't run into any problems doing that in the hotel room.

I would also recommend vaping. This is what I do now that I live in Seattle so that I can enjoy legal weed in my apartment or car (while parked and going somewhere! NOT while driving). It's nice to vape and then wander through one of our many lovely parks, though it it was my first time getting high I would be so much happier in a hotel room instead of a new place! I am a very sensitive person so I figured this is the best way for me not to worry about inadvertently annoying anyone with the smell of weed. It's also a less harsh way to get high and you can really enjoy the flavors of the incredible variety of strains we have here. If you could post what part of town you're staying in, I'm sure someone could recommend a specific recreational shop to go to that will give you guidance for your wife's first time. Some of the shops are staffed by idiots who clearly overindulge, some of them are staffed by nerds who would love to help, so it can be hit or miss!

But honestly? If buying a vaporizer is out of budget, don't worry about it. No one in your hotel is going to say anything. And if they do, you're very, very likely just going to be chastised but not in trouble even if you're in a non-smoking room. Pot is everywhere here. I've smelled it at every hotel I've stayed at here or that visitors have stayed at. The smell of it is in every park, outside bars, basically everywhere here, especially on Capitol Hill. And people in Seattle are excessively non-confrontational and our police force is way overstretched so you're unlikely to get cited (it's a pretty small fine but I've never met anyone who got one.) People will confront you for smoking a cigarette too near a doorway (because what about your health?!!) but ignore someone smoking a joint on the street. It's silly but it works in your favor.

Seconding that edibles is a crazy bad idea for someone's first time. Even buying them from a shop here where you'll be reassured of their quality is not going to guarantee your wife's reaction. I smoke regularly and I have had bad, ruined my day experiences taking half a dose of an edible that was supposed to be high in CBD/low in THC (so not supposed to get you that high). That strong warning aside, you totally don't have to worry too much about enjoying marijuana in Seattle.

tbh you should just propose a meetup and ask if any local mefites would be willing to host it

For the record, the little $30-40 cartridge vape pens are combustion based and do reek, but are so portable that you can use them discreetly while walking and be gone while the smell propagates. For me they also wear off a bit quicker, so overconsumption is less of a risk.

If you're not committed to your hotel room, I've heard that there are cannabis-friendly Air B&Bs here.

As far as smoking in public, it's technically not legal, but if you're not in people's face it will probably be ok. SPD has a bit of a race problem, so if you look brown or not middle/upper class, it gets riskier.

Do you like hiking? It could be nice to get somewhere in nature for your smoking. Find a spot off the trail so you're not all up in people's faces, especially groups with kids.
