Moving to Queretaro for 4 months

My family and I (husband, wife, 10 year old, 7 year old) will be living in Queretaro, QRO, Mexico for the next four months. We have housing/work and school for the kids arranged. What advice do you have for us/what should we know?

How is public transportation? I have a tiny bit of spanish (mostly via Duolingo, so). Shopping/groceries? Walking around? We will be actually living in Juriquilla (we're academics on sabbatical and working with folks at UNAM - Juriquilla).

[The following information is well out of date but I saw no other responses] Queretaro is a lovely town with a colonial era central city (as seen through the eyes of a teenager two decades ago), though Juriquilla appears to be an area of relatively newer development. I can say generally that (assuming again that nothing has changed much) Mexico has pretty effective (if not necessarily comfortable) public transit (car ownership in not yet universal).
