Freedom internet blocking software - how private?

It seems like it's now a yearly-based subscription service. I'm wondering how much data my computer sends to their services from my browser and hard drive.

Does the company who makes Freedom know all the sites I visit, and my log-in passwords for my bank account, etc.? (when it's not actually on and blocking the internet, obviously.)

According to the privacy policy they know what sites you go to, how long you stay on them, and may store cookie data. You can opt-out of sharing that data. Passwords aren't mentioned, but unless the service offers to save them and automatically fills them later, they probably don't have that data.

SelfControl for Mac does basically the same thing, and doesn't need a web service to do it. Their FAQ has alternate Windows/Linux options.

Response by poster: Thanks!

I appreciate the suggestion to use SelfControl! I'm going to see if I can use that instead.

(The idea that Freedom needs to access my computer to work is so strange.)
