Where was this photo taken?

This photo was taken somewhere in either Italy or France. Most likely the south of France. Possibly the Italian coastline nearby. Many thanks.

The road signs look more French than Italian. It looks like a road tunnel with a castle-type facade. That's all I got.

I tried plugging crops of the insignia on the historical marker and the hillside (castle?) into Google Image Search, no luck.

Response by poster: It's my photo - I just got a whole load of old photos scanned and am now trying to sort them. Wish I'd kept a travel diary.

Response by poster: Yeah, that's how I narrowed it down to that piece of coastline. Surprising how few photos we (I) took back in the day, before digital cameras.
