Why is my water brush reverse-threaded?

I have a Koi pocket watercolour set and the brush reservoir is reverse-threaded. Why? Is this normal for water brushes? Some Japanese quirk?

Best answer: I can't tell if the cap is threaded, or not, but I would suspect it's probably done to prevent accidental opening of the reservoir when habitually twisting the cap off in a counter clockwise direction.

Response by poster: hmmm. the cap is not threaded and, in practice, you don't really use both at the same time, since it doesn't fit in the box that way.

however, that does still make a certain amount of sense. perhaps there is a version with a threaded cap, or people tend to twist the brush even when removing the cap. i suspect you've nailed it. thanks.
