Can anyone help identify this hospital in Mongolia?

This hospital was/is apparently a maternity and pediatric hospital. I've Googled this repeatedly without success. The pictures were taken in 2010, so I'm unsure if the hospital building is still standing or if a newer hospital has been built in its place.

I'll go out on a limb and suggest maybe it is the Mother and Child Hospital in Ulanbaataar. The photos look very similar to this blog of a visiting teams. It looks like a new complex was under planning in 2010, but I couldn't figure out if its built or not.

I see a quote: "Mother’s and Children’s Hospital in Ulaanbaatar is the only hospital in all of Mongolia with a pediatric ward." and your pictures definitely show a pediatric ward.

So I think Northbysomewhatcrazy has the answer.

Best answer: I think I found it on streetview, compare this against photo 1. The name is on Google Maps is Bayangol Hospital.

Best answer: The Bayangol Hospital website touts the availability of "4D" imagery and uses diagnostic photos of an infant's head to demonstrate. That fits with the logo in your pictures, which implies radiology/nuclear medicine. The general email address for questions is info@bayangolhospital.mn

Best answer: Ok, so I got "Bayangol Hospital" in Cyrillic (Баянгол эмнэлэг) and googled it, which returned this photo . Looks like that white splotch near one of the third floor windows isn't a defect in the photograph, it's on the building!

Pretty positive this is the same hospital.

Response by poster: Wow! Thank you so much for all your effort and help. charlemangy, the hospital you found does seem to be the right one! When we run "Bayangol Hospital" through a google search, though, the pictures that turn up mainly show a purple-and-white building. Could it be possible that the 2010 building has been replaced or extended to that purple-and-white building? Found this link that seems to talk about both buildings but can't read/understand any of it...

Thank you again everyone for all your help - truly amazed by Metafilter's resourcefulness!

Best answer: Well, I have to confess to spending a lot of time tonight chasing this by google. I need better hobbies....

It seems that the new
National Center for Maternal and Child Health
shares a logo (on the photo with this article) with the old PICU sign, but I totally agree the streetview photos match with the Bayagnol Hospital.

The NCMCH has a very new, modern facility, so perhaps the Bayagnol Hospital is the old site/with the now renamed 'Mother and Child Hospital'?

It appears that Mongolia has come a very long way in maternal and child health in a few short years!

Hi aielen:

I have a friend who lives in Ulaanbaatar, saw this post, and has offered additional on-the-ground help if you want it.

From her message:
i think their question was answered, but if they want more info, i can help. it is just behind gandan so not difficult to get to. and especially if it is not urgent, i can look into it for them depending on the nature of their question. not sure why they are interested. do they want the history? or current stats? wasn't clear from the question why they wanted to know. anyway, no problem to help out; i'm here!

I can message you contact info if you're interested.
