What was this poem?

I'm trying to remember the name of a southwestern poet and one of his poems. Here's what I'm sure of:

The poem is in English and long enough to fill a sheet of paper
Sometime before 2011, the poem was Poem of the Day on an unknown poetry website
The poem was written in the last 100 years

The poem has ideas like this:
Things that look far apart on a map can be brought close together by folding the map
A map may say the word 'water' but doesn't feel wet
Contour lines are like wrinkles


The poet:
A man
From the southwest US or possibly Mexico
