Guitar/vocal songs suited to my voice

I'd like to learn some songs that are fairly simple to strum on the guitar and sing. Details within.

So, I tend to love elegant and poetic pop songs, and I'm a bass-baritone. The two songs that seem to suit my vocal range the best, and that I really really love, are "Daysleeper" by R.E.M. and "Girl in the War" by Josh Ritter. But I'm an average guitar player at best, and both of those are pretty tricky from a chord progression standpoint.

So what are some other elegant songs in that vocal range, that might be simpler from the standpoint of the strumming patterns?

Response by poster: (Other clues, if this might help: I tend to love navel-gazing rock by bands like Frightened Rabbit, Glasvegas, The Temper Trap, and their ilk.)
