Do you have a favorite?

I am working on a project for a children's literature class. Our focus is picture books, and my project involves comparing picture book adaptations of Hansel and Gretel. I've read the newest one by Hollie Hobbie, C. Rylant and J. Corace's from 2008, one by Will Moses from 2006, James Marshall's from 1990, and a few others.

I'm hoping to compare as many versions as possible. Do you or your kids have a favorite?

Paul Zelinsky is one of the better illustrators around.

Kay Nielsen did an illustrated Hansel and Gretel. His illustrations are reproduced in the recent Taschen Brothers Grimm collection.

If you google something like "hansel gretel illustration cage" or "hansel gretel illustration breadcrumbs" you get a lot of images that are really fun to compare.

You can check out Sur La Lune Fairy Tales website which can lead you to a variety of versions. Also check archive.org.
