Sad Day In The Neighborhood Note While Working On 9/11

Looking to find or recreate an piercing image sign on a bodega door in NYC on the day that Mr. Roger's died that said "It's a sad day in the neighborhood." Also searching for ways to make millions of dollars at home doing nothing and for world peace.

I worked at the medical examiner's office on the 9/11 identification process for 3 1/2 years. I worked a lot with families as we identified remains. It was incredibly stressful, difficult, sad, etc. etc. etc. I'm really struggling with what has happened in Paris and have decided to collect images of things that brought me comfort during that time. I have, for example, a picture of the place where my therapist's office was.

While I was in New York, Mr. Rogers died. It was so fucking sad. At my corner bodega they put a hand written sign on the door saying, "It's a Sad Day in the Neighborhood." It was so heartbreakingly beautiful. It was so New York and so poignant. And I loved Mr. Rogers so much when I was little and found him so comforting.

And he even said something about 9/11 (and Paris and everything else horrible) without knowing it:

"When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping." To this day, especially in times of "disaster," I remember my mother's words and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers – so many caring people in this world."

I want to go back in time and take a picture of that note on that door and add it to my collection of comforting photographs. Does anyone have this capability that they have been keeping under wraps for some reason and might find this a worth occasion to bring forth the technology?

Or, if not that, does anyone have any ideas about how I might recreate this ? I tried searching for a picture of it, thinking some other bodega might have had the idea and someone captured a shot of it. But I can't find anything.

Any ideas?

Could you recreate the sign yourself and photograph it? I realize it wouldn't be the same, but it might give you the boost of positive memory you're hoping for.

Maybe ask Etsy artists? I think they have a space where you can request/commission pieces.
