Hey! Know a good subaru repair shop in Palo Alto? What about the Mission side of SF?

Subaru's not doing so hot. Just put new heads on, and now the transmission feels... um... slippy. I know jack all about these auto-mo-bilies, but I also don't know a good shop on this side of the bay.

The symptoms, if you'd like to diagnose them yourself: occasionally the shift into 2nd will be a moderate (but silent) jerk; in general acceleration feels rather sluggish; and the tach. hops up to 5 or 6 between shifts on hills. These all seem, to me, to be signs of badness.

She's a 1997 Outback Limited, if you'd like to heckle my engine.

Anyone know a good repair shop? (I live in SF and work in PA, so either's fine.)

ole's is a good shop.

also i had good work done at a place that was called something like 'small car repair shop' or something, also in that same area just off alma, down the street from whole foods.

there's also a subaru dealer on the mountain view edge of PA but i've never been there.

The CarTalk reviews are filtered. Or were, as of two years ago.

Here in Marin are Askim's Subaru-only shop, and LIC in Novato- they are impressive and have my friend's STI up to nearly 500hp at the moment. :) I'll give you a ride home.

I used to go to Higa Automotive on Howard street (recommended by a friend). I've since moved but recommend her highly. She's a one woman shop and gives discounts for students. Not sure if she works on subarus or not - mine was a toyota.

From a mechanic's daughter: absolutely try Park Automotive on Park Street, half a mile down from California Ave. Incredibly honest--have referred many friends there, always had great service, reasonable price (especially for Palo Alto).

Filtered for what? Profanity? Only good reviews?
