windows 10 sound trouble

My sound stops working when I plug headphones or speakers into the headphone jack. I've tried troubleshooting but it says nothing is wrong.

I've googled and have tried some suggestions but no fix seems permanent. It will work but once I unplug the headphones and plug them back in the sound stops working.

I updated to Windows 10 when I got a new Windows 8 PC. I immediately upgraded and didn't use Windows 8 at all. It's an HP Probook 430 G2. It has DTS Sound+, Integrated stereo speakers, Integrated digital microphone (dual-microphone array when equipped with optional webcam), Function keys for microphone mute, volume up, and volume down, Headphone/Microphone Combo Jack

Did you check to see if there are Win10-specific drivers available from the manufacturer? The upgrade does a good job of getting your computer ready, but it's not perfect.

I had something similar a while back. I tried the steps in this forum post and it fixed my issue.
