Plus size filter: H&M jeans and tunic length henleys

It's Fall! Apples are super popular right now! Except for if you're shaped like one...this is a two-part Q, for those who have experience with H&M plus size jeans and maybe also have an ongoing quest for a perfect, tunic length henley shirt.

I have a two-part fashion question, so I'll try to make it brief. I'm interested in ordering some jeans online from H&M (the plus size line), and since the nearest store to me is both an hour away and does not carry the plus size line in-store, I have a few questions about the fit.

I am an apple-shaped, plus-size person, no ass or hips to speak of, it all went to my waist instead. I used to wear jeans that fit very low on my hips, so that I could wear a smaller size waist of jean but mostly so that I could have a pair of jeans that actually fit my thighs and rear, which are quite smaller than my non-waist. I have in the past bought and worn straight size H&M jeans this way, and found them to meet my requirements for comfort and appearance. I have never had the opportunity to try on any of the plus-size H&M jeans, especially since I have gained weight, and am wary to order them online since they will be a pain to return if they don't work out. I also no longer prefer to wear low waisted jeans, I'd rather they fit a bit higher up, which can be challenging because: apple.

If it helps anyone to gauge what my size would be in H&M jeans, I wear a 14-16 in Old Navy's Rockstar skinny jeans, which is the style I've been wearing but I'm looking for something different now, something straight legged or with a slight bootcut.

BONUS QUESTION: I would also love to find a long-sleeved, lightweight, tunic length henley in a plus size. Dark colors and neutrals preferred, and I have more of a Target budget rather than a Nordstrom budget. If you know where this might exist, in the real world or online, please let me know!

Response by poster: Um. I realized I kinda forgot the question part on the H&M jeans: basically I want to know how they fit for people with larger bellies than hips and also what size would be comparable to the Old Navy style jeans that I currently wear.

Best answer: Returns to H&M are dead easy and cost $5.95 shipping - deducted from the credit you'll get back. Seriously, you just need some wide tape to close the slit in the package back up, and the slip that came with the purchase. It's worth it to try on a few pairs of styles and sizes and get it right the first time.

Sorry, I can't speak to the H&M plus size line, but I have a similar body shape and have trouble finding jeans that fit in the waist without being baggy in the butt/legs. Torrid's line is pretty decent, their prices are a bit higher than Old Navy but you can find some decent sales. I will say that Old Navy sizes usually run large, and back when i used to fit in H&M straight sizes the fit was much slimmer, but I can't say if that applies to the plus line too. If you can afford it, I'd recommend ordering multiple sizes and returning what doesn't work.

Apple here: they do not fit me at all. I have no butt, average thighs and a pot belly that can make me look 8 months along in the wrong outfit.
They sag a lot on the bottom, but actually worst is the sort of "empty sack" sticking out each side for lack of a better word where hips and thighs should fill the fabric.
So if your thighs are regular I don't recommend them. Also, the front sort of bunches up.
I have found great success in the men's department btw, as "no butt, no thighs but pot belllied" is apparently a male (lower) body shape. But I also have longer legs than average, so this may not work for you.

Lands' End is is my go-to for comfortable tunics. These black and ivory henley shirts are on clearance but appear to still be in your size.

I'm very not plus sized, but I have tried H&M straight size jeans and my body type is rectangle/apple (if I gained more weight, I'd definitely be an apple as that's where everything goes). Had the same experience as 15L06; I went up 2 sizes (usually go up 1 size in H&M anyway) and the jeans technically fit but looked horrible.
