[OSX Yosemite] My clock keeps resetting to Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 10:57 PM at seemingly random intervals. Any idea what's going on?

This may be the result of uh shady software I installed that I may or may not be able to uninstall but does this sound like a result of that?

It could be related to a software crack that allows you to use time limited trialware for longer than intended.

I had this happen to me, I had to wipe and re-install, never figured it out.

So theoretically if this were the case, how would one go about fixing it?

AppCleaner. Of course, you'll have to identify the offending software first.

Also, once you've deleted the application causing the problem, if you can't set the time properly using system preferences, you can try the tips at this link to sync/correct the time on your mac.

You might also give Malwarebytes a run. After installing & running, make sure to hit scanner>update signatures (or ⌘U) at the top of the screen. Then hit the big scan magnifying glass.

is your system set to use an NTP server? check System Preferences > Date & Time to see if the date and time are being set automatically. if you see a weird ntp server in there (anything not ntp.apple.com or something you set yourself), untick the "set automatically" box and set the time manually.
